Connecting to the Network

laptop.gif This page contains information on connecting a personal computer (e.g. desktop or laptop) to the BGSU network. See the Device Registration page if you would like to connect your game console, PDA, or other personal device.

Minimum Requirements

Residential Computing Connection has created a list of minimum and recommended requirements for connecting to the network. This was done to refine our support as well as direct students towards computers that will enhance their academic experience. Compare your computer against the requirements to be sure you will have the best experience using the university network.

Settings

Before connecting to the university network your computer must be properly configured, but a computer with default settings should be able to connect with little to no issue.

If you encounter an issue, please contact Residential Computing Connection for assistance.

Network Connections

Residential Computing Connection recommends that students use the wired connection while in their room as it is faster, more reliable, and more secure., but wireless is available in select buildings.

Network Policies

The network policies are outlined on the Network Policy page.
