Wireless Connection

Difference between BGSU wireless and a home network

The university wireless differs from a wireless network in a house or a coffee shop in a number of ways, the most obvious is the way the wireless works. Unlike a home wireless which requires the connection to be configured and then you connect whenever, you must log in to the BGSU wireless each time when you computer detects a connection.

The following buildings have complete wireless coverage:

  • Conklin East and West Units (B, C, D, E, G, H, J, K)
  • Founders (complete at 90% coverage)
  • Kohl
  • Offenhauer
  • Rogers

All other buildings have partial wireless coverage in and around the residence hall computer labs.

Connecting to the wireless network

In order to connect to the wireless network, you will need a valid MyBGSU username and password to gain authentication to the wireless network.

  1. Configure your wireless for the BGSU wireless network.
  2. Open up a web browser.
  3. You should be redirected to the authentication page. If not, the URL is https://wirelessgw01.bgsu.edu/
  4. Follow the on-screen steps.

After you have authenticated, you will have full network access for up to 12 hours without having to re-authenticate. If your computer is turned off or you leave an area of wireless coverage for more than 5 minutes, or the 12 hour time limit is exceeded, you will have to re-authenticate.
